GST collection remains below Rs 1 lakh crore mark at Rs 95,380 crore in October

Despite improved festive demand, GST collection remained below Rs 1 lakh crore in October. GST collection rose to Rs 95,380 crore in October against Rs 91,916 crore in September, but it was still 5.29 per cent less in comparison to Rs 1 lakh crore collected in the same month last year. This is yet another month in a row when collection was at Rs 17,582 crore vs Rs 16,630 crore in September while the SGST collection was at Rs 23,674 crore, IGST was Rs 46,517 crore (including Rs 21,446 crore collected on imports) and Cess was at Rs 7,607 crore (including Rs 774 crore collected on imports).

The tax mop up was Rs 98,202 crore in August.

GST collection has not improved in a festival month clearly shows that all is not well in the economy.
