Pulse prices likely to stay firm during festive season

PUNE: Prices of pulses like tur, chana and urad are expected to remain firm during the festive season, said traders and analysts.

Mill gate prices of best quality tur dal crossed Rs 100/kg in Karnataka and Maharashtra this week, while chana prices have been inching up gradually.

Urad prices, too, are not likely to move below its Minimum Support Price (MSP) despite imports restrictions being lifted.

Since the monsoon is showing signs of delayed withdrawal from Maharashtra and Karnataka, the impact of the rainfall will sustain pressure on the pulses market in October, trade sources said. The ex-mill price of top-quality tur dal has touched Rs 100/kg in most producing.
